We also take a 100% franchised system approach to our franchising, which means that 100% of our resources, time, and money are dedicated to making these franchisees successful, not a corporate entity.

How We Prepare Them
When we welcome a new franchisee to our family, we enroll them into our training program that includes more than 75 hours of education on topics ranging from customer service to operations to marketing and advertising. Even after the grand opening, all our franchisees have access to our Winmark digital tools and franchise support for all their marketing and store operational needs.

Where We Place Them
Winmark is careful about where we choose to open our franchise stores because we have specifically built our brands to play a very specific role in the marketplace. Between high-end retail stores and low-quality secondhand outlets, Winmark brand stores offer consumers a quality retail experience that offers gently used items at remarkable discounts. This is especially true for our Once Upon a Child franchise, which offers budget-conscious families and parents up to a 90% markdown on name brand merchandise for their children.

Of the 316 reporting stores, 143 or 45% of the stores attained or exceeded the Average Gross Sales and 140 or 44% of the stores attained or exceeded the Average Gross Profit. The Top Quartile Average Gross Sales and Average Gross Profit only relates to 79 of the reporting Once Upon A Child® Stores who ranked in the top 25% of the gross sales range. Of the 79 reporting stores in the top quartile, 32 or 41% of the stores attained or exceeded the top quartile Average Gross Sales and 31 or 39% of the stores attained or exceeded the top quartile Average Gross Profit. A new franchisee’s results will likely differ from these results.
