As Earth Day approaches, it’s important to reflect on how we can all do our part to protect the planet. At Winmark - the Resale Company®, sustainability has always been a key focus. Our franchise business model keeps a significant amount of clothing, accessories, toys, music gear and more out of landfills.

Last year, Winmark surpassed 1.5 billion items recycled in our resale stores, and as the rise in green consumerism continues, resale concepts provide a win for both our customers and our franchisees.

Our Commitment to the Environment

Winmark has been proud to lead the sustainability movement since 1988 by shaping and growing a dynamic family of successful resale brands. Winmark franchises offer customers a better way to keep their items in use for a fuller, longer product lifespan. By keeping items out of landfills and prioritizing recycling, we reduce wasteful textile production and improve the environment.

Throughout our stores, we recycle five items per second, and 457 thousand items per day, to allow customers to participate in a more sustainable lifestyle.

Studies show that 85% of people have changed their purchasing habits to be more eco-friendly in the last five years. Additionally, more surveys estimate 80% of retailers who have dedicated resources to improving sustainability have been met with increased and more loyal customers. Rather than disposing of gently used items, people are now choosing to sell their unwanted items to resale shops like ours.
